Augmented Reality Treasure Hunt

 

Folk Secrets is a TV-style show, broadcast on Facebook and connected to an augmented reality app. Using the Folk Secrets Codex App, viewers actually participate in the show by hunting for a lost treasure in Oklahoma.  The first person to find the treasure wins $1,000 and can select from an approved list of charities to donate $4,000 (the treasure). Funds are provided by numerous Oklahoma businesses underwriting the project. 

The entire initiative also ties into Oklahoma history and encourages residents to get out and explore their state. There have been three seasons of Folk Secrets so far.

 

It has won 11 American Advertising Awards: 6 Golds, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze, and the Jef Fontana Humor Award.
